Dark Depressing Poetry by Matthew J. Beard
You created a monster
To chew this up and spit us
Outside there's nothing left but
The inside of your soul
Is taking it's dice roll
You created a monster
Brought forth from your loins
Like lions roaring the number
Of the monster that you created.
The confilict in my head
Is from your bickering
This candle flickering
The light is dowsed
Tonight in this house
I free my mind of worry
I don't need the same old story
What's so bad about self fulfillment?
I don't understand
What you try to make this mind think!
It's wrong,
This sexist responsibility
To find passion
Is to seek these hills
Of false fashion
I want it
You need it
Pop it
Slap it
It's wrong,
This sexist responsibility.
So I'm glad to say
It finally found someone
Who sees things my way.
Parents forgot about their responsibility
To be our friends
But instead we seek our trends
With a neck-ache
Looking to the sky
And our mouths gaping
Our souls escaping
Into wide open places.
