To be Numb

Free Romantic Poetry
a poem by Matthew J. Beard

I wonder what it feels like to be numb
To the world we live in there’s nothing
Someone hurt you and they’ll hurt too
From what they did to you
I can guarantee he’s on a losing streak
A line of blue in the sky so true
Rain falls and so we do
Descending down into jubilee
No one else knows it like we do
I hate it cause there’s no “us” just me
Because of this numbness in thee
You light up my life everyday
Even when you’re not around
I think about you
Can’t get my mind away from you

I had a dream and you were the main attraction
You scared me, I must have frightened you
I don’t care though As long as you’re mine in my dreams
I can feel as though
You’re mine and nothing else
We are us,
You are mine, you are what you are
And I wouldn’t have it any other way
But I guess it’s only a dream
Of the crop you are my cream
A tear drops from my face
Because you’re not mine
What a crime!

Can you love someone even though...
They feel nothing for you?
Is it possible to cry the tears...
When they simply aren’t there?
Goodnight
Goodbye my love
I’ll see you tonight
In my reality
Of dreams
