Poetry About Life - poem by Matthew J. Beard
They feed us lies
Because the truth is hard to swallow
Impeed our lives
But soul still feels so hollow
Nothing said
Thoughts misled
We be slaves to our own minds
Cluttered with smut
And such an illusion
This pain is mass confusion
Tell us all,
Before you fall
What we'll buy into
While you buy into "you" too!
Yourself as well
I cannot tell
When or where
Or just how much I do care
Oh I do,
Even if I'm one of few.
Wouldn't it be so easier
To say the wrong thing
While so many are listening?
You know it
We show it
The only thing that matters.
Someday.
My own clothes in tatters
And I won't care
No, I do not dare!
For if I do
Then they might too.
Someday you might recognize
The only one to really fight,
Is you.
